Your ride from our Timber-lodge into this mysterious National Monument takes you through volcanic cinder cone fields, ancient ruins unexplored by the public and aninfinite array of panoramic vistas of the Painted Desert on the way!
Distances are close estimates from TheWoodShedAZ!™ DesertMasters™Lodge location itself, 13 miles due East of the top of Mt. Elder in East Flagstaff. The lodge is located approximately six miles S.E. of Sunset Crater National Monument and 1 mile directly due west of Merriam Crater. The lodge is in the volcano fields at 5,750 feet elevation. The lodge overlooks the Little Colorado River, Hopi and Navaho Nations.
