Beyond Amenities of the Existing Facility; |
Legendary Vision Forges Pragmatic Change |
|
Gregg Scott says upon first seeing the site, “I realized that this was a fantastic location for the first “intentional-energy-village-imprint” and the ingenious manner in which we as creative and business people could focus our energies into this location. At first, I was surprised by the stark beauty. The brilliant and innovative approach we could take would work, creating an entirely pragmatic and excitingly fresh approach to life. But I also liked the economy in the potential to be realized from implementing ancient geomantic architectural diversity and applying the “Living Energies” technologies of redirecting life force, here. |
The size and configuration of the guest and membership housing, which we have projected to build in a cluster of Energy Domes is perfection for this location. The existing rustic dimensional timbers used from an old rail road bridge brought in from Canada and forged with a saw mill, into a small but beautifully appointed lodge and horse barn and paddocks was stunningly beautiful in its nature. And because of the uniqueness of the geologic layers combined with the architecture, all of the living spaces to be built here will have first, middle and top-floor entrances; it, the terrain and air space itself lends the ability to organize the living spaces in a very interesting way.” |
|
“As I have worked extensively for many months both on the property and in traveling to do research with other developers and in seeing what other architects and alternative energy producers are doing or have done such as the notorious duo of Frank Lloyd Wright legend and lore, Soleri and Mills, I’ve laid down a few design principals. First, TheWoodShedAZ! DesertMastersLodge, wouldn’t be some hive for home working hermits, but ultimately it will evolved into a proper community. |
Second, since the existing buildings are in tact and wonderfully functional, these buildings would be enhanced but using only original techniques and materials, left from the previous construction period. And, around the perimeter of the lodge, because of the way that the geologic strata and topography are shaped, the lodge can be expanded by a factor of at least six to one without impinging on the serenity that makes the location so unique. We could command such detail, down to each tree and plants on the location. |
There’s nostalgia for indigenous tribal, geomantic architecture but the area beckons the futuristic integration of Energy Domes with a Mills-Soleri style passive energy concept with Spanish style lodge accoutrement. We can bring the elements of all of these dynamic life-style transformation structures to bear in the shape of an energy village. The modernity of the village would be in its organization.” |

The expansion involves bringing a cluster of expertly architected Energy Domes together into a “crustacean” system of interlocking cells that can expand or contract to suit the needs of the household that checks in. Each space or unit has all of the essentials: a kitchen, multiple bathrooms, multiple bedrooms, terraces and viewing decks wrapping around geomantic architectural structure and each space sports its own high energy herb and botanical gardens which are a part of a larger system of gardens and plant life designed to bring energy to the entire valleys residents and the villages guests and members and to provide economy through sales of vegetables, herbs and botanicals to the marketplace. Given the expansive nature of Dome and geomantic style architecture, the suites built are deceptively roomy, stylish and comfortable with “Hobbit like” doors and windows, circular and cone shaped, vaulted archways and arbors and under-floor heating with the use of solar technology. |
Meanwhile, beneath the entire village, there will run a ten mile network of fiber optics and copper delivering a level of connectivity that the largest American cities would envy. Each retreat home in this paradise will have an Internet line, a broadband internet port that supports videophone and video-conferencing services, a radiophone for use around the village, and cable for video-on-demand and interactive TV. |
